Using their Action for Healthy Kids grant, Brush School District offered students weekly fresh fruit taste tests throughout the 2023-2024 school year. At the end of the school year, 54% of Brush parents reported that their child started eating more fruits and vegetables and 50% of Brush students shared they enjoy eating fruits and vegetables more than last year.

Boosting Healthy School Lunch Participation 

With support from the Healthy Meals Incentives (HMI) Initiative, Bnos Yisroel of Baltimore received funding to improve the nutritional quality of its school meals. As a result of this funding, salad bar participation increased from 15% to 67%—a major gain in healthy meal participation.

Second Chance Program Boosts Student Knowledge on Tobacco & Nicotine Use

After completing the Second Chance Program, 58% of students said they would “definitely not” or “probably not” use a vaping product if offered by a close friend. Results showed increased knowledge about tobacco and nicotine. The percentage of students who believed most teenagers use tobacco products dropped from 76% before the program to 43% after. In 2025, 1,140 students have completed the Second Chance program!
